A Visit To The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences

On 7 January 2019, we students of Life Sciences Foundation UNIMAS were allowed to visit the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, located at the West Campus, UNIMAS. The day before the visit to the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, most of my friends showed their excitement through status in WhatsApp who can not wait for tomorrow. For me, I did not put such high expectations for the visit because I wanted to judge through his own eyes. On the day of the visit, I have only two major focuses on seeing all the facilities offered by the Faculty as well as gain all information about future use. After the completion of the lecture on the day, my friend and I were outside the Dewan Unimas waiting for the bus to take us to the Faculty. Bill Hybels, an American author state that vision is a picture of the future that produces passion. Our beloved country, Malaysia aimed to become one of the developed countries by 2020. This picture of Malaysia being a developed country by 2020 is drawn during the sixth Malaysia Plan in 1991. The Vision has put us into our passion and absorbed into our spirit. This phase of Malaysia Can ( Malaysia Boleh ) widely speaks among people around the globe about the ability of Malaysians. Even the sky wasn't a limit. While for Sarawak, we dream to become a developed state by 2030. Sarawak will strive to develop its talents and infrastructure towards achieving its vision. To be a developed state. the thing that we have to put measure are education, economy, and technology. For education, in order to expand our youth ability in the global market, the Sarawak Education Department has taken a step ahead to introduce the using of English in the teaching of mathematics and science by 2020

Reflection On Volunteerism Activity

On the 27th day of November 2019, my group and I held a "Gotong-Royong" activity around the lobby of CAIS Medical and Seminar Room and hallway of tutorial room. My group composed of a total of 15 students. We divided among ourselves into 2 smaller groups. One group assigned to clean the lobby of the Seminar Room and one more assigned to clean the lobby of CAIS Medical and hallway of tutorial room.  ​ Before conducting this activity, I as Secretary have to do a project proposal on the “Gotong-royong” activity. With the help of all members, I glad that we have submitted our project proposal on time. I have been a tough responsibility since I didn’t have any experience of doing it. This activity helps me in developing more skills which I will use in the future.  ​ As a result of this program, students can nurture a spirit of cooperation and cultivation the spirit of love for the faculty while increasing self-confidence especially in terms of communication. MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS

On 23 October 2019,  Dr. Chen had delivered a talk entitled 'Life As Undergraduate' at the Lecture Hall, CTF1 from 2 pm to 3 pm. Some important points being highlighted during the talk. While, as a student being stress is something that we have to face in degree life. At the beginning of the talk, we are introduced to the definition of stress. Stress is the feeling of being under too much mental or emotional pressure. Pressure turns stress when you feel unable to cope and unmotivated. There are a few situations that might make us feel stressed such as adjustment to a new environment, preparing for exams, being teased at school, arguing with friends and financial difficulty. Stress could affect the student's body such as headaches and feel tired and our behavior as well such as pulling hair and nail-biting.      Besides Dr.Chen had mentioned to us about good mental health examples are good self-esteem, manage emotions, open to change and able to function. On 20th of November 2019, we were given a talk by Dr.Rekaya Vincent Balang about Professionalism and Ethics : Doctor and Nurses Games. The talk was held at Seminar Room, Faculty of Medicine and Health Science. The main core of the talk is to give a slight view to all student on how do work as a team in health profession. Health profession in the Hospital is not only limited to the doctors but it involved all hands in making hospital run well. In order hospital to run well, all people from different various health profession have to play their part well. For example, nurse. Briefing on Centre Of Academic Information Services, UNIMAS presented by Dr.Saiful has helped me a lot in finding academic resources for my studies. Dr.Saiful has shared with us some websites that can help us do our research.  UNIMAS itself provides a very useful places for all students and staff to find their reading material in various forms such as books, journals and publications available at CAIS.  There are three CAIS in UNIMAS 1. CAIS Pre-U 2. CAIS Medical 3.Main CAIS. Students can borrow the book within the given time period. We can even renew a book loan by online without having to go to the counter. We can access and download the ebook for free through the search engine such as CAIS Onesearch (http://www.cais.unimas.my/). CAIS Onesearch offers a variety of ebook searches, journals and publications for each student for free.
